Angola has decided to leave the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) because its role in the organization was not relevant and it was not serving the country’s interests, oil minister Diamantino Azevedo said on public television on Thursday.
Angola’s President Joao Lourenco has approved the country’s decision to withdraw from OPEC which was taken at a cabinet meeting on Thursday, the presidency said in a statement.
